I assume that if this legislation passes then all the SCCA would need to
do it to remove the DOT requirement from the rule book and replace the
wording with "2001 DOT regulations" or some such. I am really more
concerned how this ruling will affect low-volume, high-performance
street tires like the Falken Azenis where the company may decide to just
pull the tire from the US rather than spend the money for testing.
Still I think that the idea of some sort of exemption for race tires is
not a bad one so I'll probably make a comment or two. I can see how the
legislation would be a good thing for the SUV crowd however.
