While 15% is a good number for the hp loss from flywheel to tires on
the chassis dyno, it is more correct to divide your chassis dyno hp
figure by 0.85 to get flywheel power. The equation is:
chassis dyno hp / x = 0.85 / 1
Cross multiplying: chassis dyno hp * 1 = 0.85 * x
Divide each side by 0.85: chassis dyno hp / 0.85 = x
So, for each 100hp on the chassis dyno: 100/0.85 = 117.647 hp at the flywheel
Sorry about that!!! I just couldn't leave those 2.647 hp on the table!!!
