We've been running the 245/40/18 on the front and 275/35/18 on the rear in
the R compound -- they fit the 8" and 9" wheels just fine. And we're
switching to the 245/35/18 fronts so we can run the A compound after a little
more sorting.
And no, the R compound doesn't heat up as quickly in a typical autocross
situation. Get the A's if you can find them if you want to be competitive
with the Z06's. (Nitrous and a blower wouldn't hurt either. <g>)
