I hope they work out something with Nokian on the rally side, too. Not that
I want to run Nokians in STS/X, but I sure love what Hakkapaliitta Qs do for
my truck in the snow. And I found out about them from SCCA rally coverage
of Subies. And I love to talk about my tires and sponsors to others, which
is what this marketing game is ultimately all about.
I run Falkens on my truck in the summer now, too. (but I'm not going to dis
them because they don't offer the Azenis in a 10-ply rated truck tire!).

Actually, Dave, that partnership was FIRST announced at the National
Convention in Denver earlier this month. It included the unveiling of a
huge Hankook banner draped all the way across the dias at the Saturday
luncheon. NOW we know the details.
I, too, applaud Steve and everybody else involved at the national office
for their efforts to market our organization. I think they're doing a
bang-up job of it. And I think we're going to see a lot more "partners"
coming onboard in the months ahead.
But I also think that we're NOT going to see that continued marketing
growth if the people on this list start off the relationship by running
down the new sponsor because they don't yet have the tire or widget or
whatever for MY car. I've already seen several responses headed in that
direction. Instead, I think we should be thanking them for getting
involved with us - promising our support if they have a product we can
use - and encouraging them to listen to our wants and needs if they
don't so they can better meet our needs in the future.
It's just like getting sponsorship for your own race car!!! Only, in
this case, we're all in the same boat. 8<{)
