I assume you've already gone to appropriate driving shoes or the 
equivalent?  Makes a big difference.  I had to do this in C4 Corvettes 
originally, before then I didn't see what the fuss was.  Try surf socks 
if you like before investing in $$$ shoes.

In my C5 I usually ended up with my knees pivoted from the dash panel, 
something like the old VW passive-restraint bar!

I don't know that it will buy you much.  Some cars come that way, the 
Viper comes to mind immediately, but they do it because of wheelwell 
intrusion.  I find it more distracting than helpful, because you aren't 
facing straight along the car's axis anymore.
