A large contingent (including myself) of the B Stock Miata drivers run
225/45R15's on a 15x6 rim. Never heard of a problem. As a matter of fact,
I thought a 7" wide rim was perfect for a 225. I've got 225/50R16's on
16x7's on my Passat and 225/55R17's on 17x7's on my Audi allroad.
Another racing reference would be the Type R drivers running 225/45's on
their fronts which are 15x6.5 I believe.

Subject: Need Quick Tire/Wheel Advice
I have been running 205/50-15 Kumhos on my autocross car. It is a
1st gen Rx-7 with 15x7 wheels.
Can I run a 225/45-15 on those wheels? More importantly, would the
larger size be ok in an autocross situation? Would they be better (since
they are wider) or would I be better off sticking with the 205?
I know it sounds like a dumb question (Is a wider tire better? Duh), but
I know that just because a tire will mount up on a rim doesn't mean
that it safe or competitive like that. (I'm imagining the tire
ballooning out over the rim)
Thanks
