To make sure everything is out from under the seat, I recommend hitting the
brakes hard a couple of times. My first autocross event in a Fiero resulted
in many piece of hard candy, some 22 shells, nickels, etc. all ending up
under my feet. And I thought that I had done a pretty good job of vacuuming
under there shortly after I bought it.

FRom a solo driver of over 30 years.....suggest up air in tires to 45, get
some white shoe polish and make marks on sidewalls so you can see how much
the sidewalls roll over. Need it to stop at edge of tread not farther.
Then see how car handles, lower pressure on the opposite end of the one that
breaks out first, unless you like the handling. Generally need the car to
be neutral to rear loose but controllable.

Make sure nothing loose in car, such as stuff under the seat etc. Helmet
whatever you prefer, is comfortable....

Most important issue, memorize the course so you can drive it with your eyes
closed. To many worry about the car setup, when you need to learn the
course and be concerned with your driving. Make sure you are well belted
in.

That is the basics....have fun, you just may get hooked on how much fun
soloing can be! Give yourself lots of time to learn....do not get
discouraged if you do not win right off. LIsten and learn from all the
experienced ones around you.....sort out the advice to that that is right
for you, as you may learn and drive differently than some who advise....
