I apologize for spamming the list, but a member of our community needs
help. I'm sure that many of you on Team.net and the Evolution list know Paula
Whitney, she is a member of the SCCA National Staff and spends a great deal
of her time working on the National events so that we can all have a good
time there. Paula is the SCCA Timing Chief for the SCCA in Solo II and Pro
Solo, and I'm sure many of you, if you don't know her, have seen the petite
red head driving very fast in her yellow DP miata. :-)
Early Friday morning, Dec 28th, Paula Whitney's apartment was consumed
in a fire. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Paula didn't have
renter's insurance, so at this point she pretty much has nothing. Luckily
the fire started a few doors down, so Paula was able to get out safely, one
of her cats made it out as well, but as far as we know right now, the other
kitty died in the fire.
The roof collapsed onto her bedroom loft area, so all of Paula's
clothes, jewelry, and bathroom stuff is gone, her downstairs living area
looked as of yesterday like most of the damage was water related. She lost
two computers, all her living room furniture, family pictures and quilts, as
well as all the general electronic stuff, ( TV, DVD player, tuner, CD, VCR,
fax machine, you get the picture:-( )
I know that Sandi sent out an e-mail to a few people yesterday, and
Paula had many calls from concerned friends who wanted to know what they
could do to help.... Dan Pedroza has offered to set up a web page, with a
link to a Paypal account for those who want to help Paula. Just follow the
link below to contribute to helping Paula.
For those of you who would rather send Paula things directly, her new
address at the apartment complex is 3821 N O'Conner, Irving TX 75062. You
can call her at 214-507-9941
Thank you all for reading and for helping Paula in any way that you can.
