Now you folks have done it -- you've actually got me thinking a bit. I set
toe using toe plates and tape measures. The plates rest against the tires
with a tape measure across the front and back of the plates. I have used
the same plates on a car with 14" wheels, one with 15" wheels, and now one
with 17" wheels. I guess the plates are designed for a tire diameter equal
to the distance between the tape measure slots, but I've never thought about
it before. I guess it doesn't really matter anyway, as long as my
measurements are repeatable (which they are). The absolute value doesn't
matter, just the value relative to where it was before.
