I bought a 2000 Firebird 6-speed with 20k miles about a month ago. It
is very hard to get into gear first thing in the morning. Reverse is
almost impossible unless I go into another gear first. You can tell
that the synchros are having to stop the gears from moving: the car
will actually try to roll forward a slight bit as I go into gear! Other
than that, the clutch adjustment (at top/bottom of stroke) feels fine.
When things are warmed up, the problem is virtually non-existent. If
this is not simply "the nature of the beast", I'd like to get it fixed
under warranty (clutch adjustment? throwout bearing?). If it is normal,
I don't want the dealer mechanics wrenching on it since it took them
over an hour just to program a new key fob, and they had written
instructions!
Any thoughts?
