Hi Group:
I would like some comments, good/bad/whatever. This past weekend I drove a bone
stock 1998 Mustang with the 3.8 L V-6 and slushomatic, worn 140 treadwaear
Goodyears. First time ever, just to see how the car would fare in GS. Was
against the Cendiv Subaru series champ in an Integra R and a Fire Chicken, also
with the V6. Others in the class were a MAxima and a Ford Contour. I ended up
second, 3 secs off of Jeff Robertson in the Integra, which was fully stock
class prepped and had real tires. The Fire chicken was on fulltread somethings,
and we had a great battle for second in that I found .2 on him on Saturday's
course, he beat me by .001 on Sunday's course, so my Saturday times got me the
runer up.
I felt the Mustang was much better than I anticipated. It may not be a national
championship car (certaintly the driver isn't), and I am sure I am giving away
weight, HP, and torque. But I am am curious about it overall as a competitove
GS car. Based on what I experienced, my feeling is that it isn't that far off
the mark. I felt the car was very predictable, and surprisingly nimble and
quick even with the slush box and weight.
I don't know the HP or torque specs, either. Any body can help? I would like to
develope this car more for next year, and me included. Also, my fiance wants to
run it too. And since she is new to this stuff, I felt it would be a good,
predictable car for her to learn in.
Let me know whatcha think. Copy to me also at miked@kuhlman.com
Thanks, list. I appreciate it.
Mike
