It is so easy to pull the engine. After you remove the sheet metal around
the engine and disconnect the fuel and electric lines, only 4 bolts hold the
engine to the trans. Other then a couple of metric tools, all you need are
two tall jack stands and a floor jack. Jack the rear up high enough to clear
the fan shroud with the motor on the floor jack. Unbolt motor with floor
jack under the engine, wiggle and pull engine toward rear until it clears
input shaft and lower with jack.
When we had our 65 and when to the shows, they had engine pull contests
where two guys could pull a Bug engine in under two minutes
