Good luck.  The CVT cars about which I know are controlled by an engine
throttle.  Direct control of a CVT ratio by the accelerator pedal would be
an "interesting" exercise in car control.  It may not even work.  The gas
turbine will eventually be controlled by some sort of automatic throttle.
Else it would explode under no-load.  So the automatic throttle is closing
while under no-load and then you nail the pedal.  The engine starts to bog,
so the automatic throttle opens.  You still have a place for throttle lag.

I understand.  It is difficult to imagine a quantum-leap improvement over
the NA piston engine and CVT setup in the Phantom.  Learning to set up and
drive a Formula Ford and run with the best national drivers is challenge
enough for one cheesehead.
