Yesterday afternoon, I drove home through the northern end of NYC (I-95). As
I came across I-80 in New Jersey, I could see the skyline of New York. When
I had left last week it was very familiar. Returning last night was the new
view. It was astonishing. The actual view brought back more of the memories
of the videos. I had also decided to listen to the audio version of Tom
Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation." Inspiring. I hope we can become the next
"Greatest Generation."
Crossing the George Washington Bridge, there was an American flag hung
between one of the towers of the bridge. As I crossed, I looked to the left
to see the view down Manhattan's west side. Smoke still coming up from the
WTC site. It was and is still profound.
We have a long way to go.
An emotional way to end the week.
