One of the neat things about the Vicky Brit catalogues is a page on "What
year is your car?" But then, nailing down a specific year is elusive for
LBCs because unlike the Colonists, they did not change models every year
just because the calendar turned over.
According to the Vicky Brit MGA catalogue (1995, but that's still newer than
any of the cars!), the chassis ID number tells the tale.
HD10101 to 68850 was a 1500 roadster, built Aug/55 to Sep/59, with a 1489cc
engine
GHN68851 to 100351 was a 1600 roadster, built May/59 to May/61, with a
1588cc engine
GHN100352 to 109070 was a 1600 Mk. 2 roadster, built May/61 to Jul/62, with
a 1622cc engine
HM20671 to 68850 was a 1500 coupe, built Oct/56 to May/59, with a 1489cc
engine
GHD68851 to 100351 was a 1600 coupe, built May/59 to May/61 with a 1588cc
engine
GHD100352 to 109070 was a 1600 mk.2 coupe, built May/61 to Jul/62 with a
1622cc engine
YM501 to 2611 was a twincam roadster, built May/58 to May/60, with a 1588cc
engine
YD501 to 2611 was a twincam coupe, built May/58 to May/60, with a 1588 cc
engine
Then there were 395 MGA Deluxe 1600s and 1600 Mk. 2s, built from June/60 to
May/62, that were built on the twincam chassis with Dunlop 4-wheel disc
brakes and centerlock disc wheels.
