I remember talking to the Denver region RE at
nationals the 1 time I went [we drove the same type
car in the same class] and asking him how he was ever
able to run an event with all those rules in the book.
Some of us in SFR found them as impractical ten years
ago as they are today and I surmised that he would
really need to be in complience running events in
Denver! He laughed and said they regarded the book as
relevant for the Nationals and SFR only. They even
thought some of the rules were in there just to mess
with the anal-ists SFR is famous for. They found it
not a problem to use what worked for them and dismiss
the rest.
Both of us have moved on, he remains a friend, and
neither of us find fun in the "top level" procedures
of the sport.
Anyone that expects to win with an underprepared
effort and overprepared rulebook or flakey inaccurate
measuring devices is simply playing a different game.
.
[I wish they would leave the Prepared classes to the
Prepared class competitors and send the pretenders to
SM.] INCOMING!
It looks like the trend has spread east if this thread
is real.....
