"As a non-attendant at the event in question, I have a question to
toss
out:
My understanding of the course (as it has been explained here on
team.net)
is this: It was fast and fun, and culminated in a flat out finish
section
that had many (most?) cars exceeding highway speeds for a
measurable
period
of time, with little steering input. (woo hoo!)"
That's a great example of the rumors that get started after an event
is done. As has already been pointed out by Mr. Cox, this in no
way reflects how either day's course was laid out. In fact, since
each ending comprised a slalom leading up to the lights, this
couldn't be further from the truth.
Maybe next we can talk about the way the course led from the
TMS parking lot onto the speedway, made two complete laps
around the high-bank ovals, then led back out of the speeway and
onto I-35, down to Ft. Worth, and back up to the parking lot. You
know, I had to fill up with gas between each run and replace two
blown engines at that event. I guess it was pretty fast and unsafe
after all!
