Larry,
Back when I was running in different events, Harrisburg had an interesting
method of "splitting the day"

As I remember...

The day was split into up to ~6 heats. Each heat had a limitted number of
entrants (like maybe 12) and the heat ran three runs.
An entrant could pick the heat(s) they wanted to run in.
I'm not sure how long registration was open, but it was open while the event
was running. Tech was available as long as registration.
There were walk through's before each heat.
You had to register to work one of the heats.
You could pay to "fun run" in any of the heats, but your first run was your
time for competition (many, like us, chose to only run fun runs) I don't
remember if we were required to work a heat for each heat we worked or not.

They did not run by class. (It didn't concern me since I was only "fun
running" anyway)

The sanctioning club would sometimes "consolidate" heats if the numbers
dictated.

I found the method very efficient and enjoyable.
I don't think socializing really suffered either.

With the way staging was (is?) at the North Park lot, I thought the NHSCC
numerical order, until duplicate number with different classes were allowed,
worked best.

Actually, I found that I could watch my competiton better if we didn't run
close together.

At least you knew where you belonged in line just by looking at the number
on the car! There was no problem when I came up to number 10 ES and got in
front with my number 9 CP car.

Maybe I'm a little too "orderly", but running a Prepared car does not lend
itself to sitting in line.

I mean, now there is a 9CS, 9DS, 9 ES, 9ESP on and on... Whose in front of
who?

Notice I'm switching to 99.

Keith

99AS (I'll be there 4/22!)
