** Notice to anyone using a MOMO harness in their car. **
MOMO has recently issued an immediate recall on all harnesses labeled with
the following certification numbers.
"FIA B-143.T/98"
"FIA C-154.T/98"
"FIA D-153.T/98"
"FIA D-142.T/98 "
"SFI"
"SFI 16.1"
** Only MOMO harnesses marked as FIA or SFI certified are involved. **

The Competition Board has just recently decided that the use of any of
these listed harnesses will be prohibited at any SCCA sanctioned event.
It is 99% likely that Rally/Solo will follow the same response,
decisions
are being made this week. In the event that Rally/Solo does follow the same
program, and your car is equipped with any of these labeled MOMO harnesses,
you will not be permitted to use them. If you have a stock seat belt or
other harness, you may use that, but these MOMO harnesses may not be used.
If you have no other legal restraints installed in your car, you will not be
permitted to compete.
This has been forwarded through the SEB and SSC, final decisions are
likely
to be made very soon. This is a heads up, if you've got one of these
harnesses, call MOMO. If you're a tech inspector or a safety steward, be
aware.

SUBJECT: MOMO Racing Harness Procedures
According to the recent announcement by MOMO USA, "MOMO Automotive has
determined that a defect exists in certain MOMO racing harnesses which cause
the harnesses to be unsafe. These harnesses, which bear the MOMO Corse or
MOMO name (and in the case of certain Dodge Vipers only, the label "ACR")
have labels on the lap strap referring to one or more of the following
certification numbers: "FIA B-143.T/98," "FIA C-154.T/98," "FIA D-153.T/98,"
"FIA D-142T/98," "SFI" or "SFI 16.1". Only MOMO harnesses marked as FIA or
SFI certified are involved."
MOMO has warned that "USE OF THESE HARNESSES SHOULD CEASE IMMEDIATELY"
Competitors with any of the above racing harnesses should contact MOMO
directly at 800-749-6666.
In light of the above statement from MOMO, the use of these belts is
prohibited in all SCCA-sanctioned events. Competitors are responsible for
their own immediate compliance with this prohibition.
