Sorry if this is posted twice, I didn't get a return on the digest.
A tree jumped out and grabbed my dad in our street/autocross car this
weekend, inflicting some damage to the door, floorpan, fenders, and maybe
more. The policy wording is like "excluding performance driving events and
practices" . I know that many people have gotten covered on solo2 as a
"driver education event" , and I've also heard about bmw and other lapping
days being covered.
What I'd like to hear is what type of wording was used when the report was
filed and what kinds of questions were asked by the adjuster. I'm
particularly interested if you were insured by Progressive.
FYI the driver is fine, just minor harness marks on his shoulder. It
happened under braking out of a right-handed shallow sweeper into a left
handed gate, in the rain. Didin't get the car settled and straight before
braking and it looped around to the right, continuing off course , through
the grass, and sideways into the tree at about 15mph.
Any info on how to handle this is appreciated. We're not interested in
making up a story outside of the event.
