Everything is remaining status quo for the 2001 season.
Just about every SM Competitor wants the 944 Series to be able to run in SM.
The problem is Howard Duncan and the SEB has already made a ruling and it
can't be changed until we get some data to back up those cars being allowed
into the class. The proposal is for local clubs to run an SM2 which will
basically allow just about all of the non-SM cars to compete and then after
the season determine how those cars would have done in relation to SM. If
the 944 Series of cars would not have walked all of the regular SM cars then
Howard would in all probability recommend the 944 Series to be allowed into
SM.
It is going to take at least this season to work it all out.
You are right about the Supra though. If it is allowed in, then the 944 and
300ZX should be too! Lots of letters went to Howard and the SEB expressing
just that point. :)
