The factory spec allows for .010" shave on the head, this is in the case of
heads that need to be decked for flatness... .010" is the max clearance the
FSM will allow although this *can* be doubled up (not legal i know, wouldnt
do it anyways). And factory spec on the crank is a normal service procedure,
as is a 3-angle valve job (they come that way from the factory). Oh yeah the
machining of hte piston domes was to get rid of sharp edges on the piston
surface... slightly lowering compression but giving a better surface for
combustion/flame front travel... sharp edges really like to screw with fluid
flow.

Shaving the block is only allowed if your factory (not Chilton, Haynes,
Clymer, etc.) service manual allows it as a normal service procedure, which I
seriously doubt it does. You can go up to .0472" overbore in SP legally,
however.

Again, only if the service manual allows it.

The crank had better be "stock." I'm not sure what the ruling would be on
micropolishing, but all journal radii, etc. have to be as specified in the
manual.

Allowed.

You may balance, but not lighten.

All allowed.

Machining IS lightening. Intent doesn't count. I'm guessing you're doing
this for clearance purposes because of your head/block shaving, which tells
me that the factory manual probably DOESN'T allow it...

None of it, unless the 3 or 5 angle valve job is specified in the manual.
the '98 springs are only legal in a completely '98 engine.
