I'm looking forward to attending my first nationals next year, and I certainly
don't mind if it's in Topeka, but I just wanted to brag about TX Motor Speedway
for a minute. ;-)
I'm not sure what it cost, but if a local organization can make it work for 295
competitors I don't see how the site could be cost prohibitive for 1000+
competitors. I have no idea what the logistics were for pulling off the event,
but this is just a thought.
As was stated, the facility is *beautiful*. With all the smooth asphalt anyone
could ever want, very easy access, giant restroom facilities, etc. Part of
what makes it so great is that it's built to handle crowds of 200,000. The
track is located on I-35 about 5 miles north of Ft. Worth, so there are only a
few hotels within a couple of miles. However, within 10-15 miles there are all
the hotels that a major city can offer. Not to mention the fact that there is
enough room for about 10,000 RV's at the site. Also, as far as weather goes,
mid October in Texas is pretty close to perfection.
