I really could care less about the perceptions of the two
classes, as long as they are administered equally. That isn't
the case with how the ladies classes are handled in ProSolo
challenges. Just perusing the Wendover results, there were 29
ladies driving between L1 and L2. Why were there 16 ladies
challenge round positions??? Does anybody else think that it's
totally bogus to have drivers that finished BELOW mid-pack
qualify for a challenge round spot just because of their gender???
In the open class, being 0.5 seconds off of the class leader is
usually fatal to your challenge round chances. In L1 at Wendover,
being 2.5 seconds off the leader in L1 still got you a spot!
If there were 128 drivers in the open class at a hypothetical
ProSolo competing for 32 challenge seeds, then it's only fair
that 32 ladies should have to compete for the same proportion
of challenge seeds (8 in this example). Take the remaining
spaces and put them up for grabs in the bonus challenge. Heck,
expand the bonus challenge to 32 or 64 seeds, to give everyone
a better chance at some Sunday afternoon runs.....
