Tidbits: Looks like the GRM rookie of the year will be shared by a couple
of first time/first event winners. In FS, Daddio came from behind on the
course that was hard to come from behind on. The top 3 cars are quite
different. Everyone talks about the ESP M3's handling but from what I saw
Tunnell was out braking everyone. In FSP Susko had the speed to win but
coned every run the 2nd day. In HS, Blume was 2nd but during a protest
found his timing was off so they added a second to his time. The Allen
protest was disallowed. To many people's surprise a Lotus Elan did NOT win
DM. A Solo Vee did finally win FM. Clint McMahan's car broke and he jumped
in 3 different cars to finish his runs. The CS Miata was competative but
not an overdog. Looks like a good fit. Come from behind win in DS for
Shields. Washburn had a bad shock on Tues but fixed it for Wed. New and
old BMW's trophied in GS. Wonder how Tunnell would do there in the M3 next
year? McCormick's tranny broke in the Pro and he drove someone elses car on
Tuesday. He parts came in and he had it fixed for the Wed. Martins Camaro
looked good on the south course but had trouble on the tight north. CP was,
well, CP. Jesus former GT car broke the right front lower A arm but after
some "late night beer drinking and hammer swinging" had it fixed for Wed.
He really cranked his last run on the north course. The only one to get
into the 54's. Weather looks dry for the next two days.
