I guess my first post wasn't really specific enough, so I'll try again.
The 2000 Mustang GT (and 99 also, I believe) comes standard with 16 x 7.5
wheels. There is a factory, stand alone, option of 17 x 8 wheels available
from the factory (which I have). I believe either would be legal for the
current FS class.

My question is, would I be better off finding a set of the standard 16 x 7.5
wheels for autox tires (easier to find), or should I look for a set of 17 x
8 wheels? I'd assume that if the 16's where 8 inch wide they would be
better than the 17's at 8 inch wide for autox, all other factors being
equal. According to both Kumho and BFGoodruch spec sheets a 245/45/16 or
245/45/17 is the widest recommended for either wheel. So would I be better
off missing out on a half inch of width for the benefits of smaller
diameter, lower rotational mass, and slightly less cost?

thanks again

I'm looking for wheels to autox my 00 Mustang GT which will be run in FS.
Anyone have words of wisdom whether I should go with the stock size of 16 x
7.5 or 17 x 8. I have the 17 x 8 for the street. I was thinking I might be
better off with the 16s for autox, for faster steering response, less
rotational mass, etc.. I would be loosing out on the half inch width
though. Anyone also know what size tire is best. I'll most likely be
running Kumhos.

Thanks in advance for any info.
