Hi all,
Well the Kumho's on my 93 MR2 are finally now harder than my street
tires. After 160+ runs, i finally lost track of just how many runs they had
on them! The rears are down to less than 1/32" but the fronts still have
about 1/32" left. I have a saved set I took off just before nationals last
year that have been sitting, vaccuum packed in my garage, but on further
inpection of them yesterday, I can't figure out why I saved them. At least
one is VERY flat spotted and all have very uneven wear (Boy I must have
really sucked at the start of last year!). They also seem to have hardened a
bit during storage.
So it's time for new tires. My question is, should I stick with
Kumho's or would the BFG's or Hoosiers give me better grip. If I switch, can
I still run 225's on the front? I tend to be lousy at modulating the brakes,
so are there any flat spotting concerns with any of these choices? Would the
225/45-15 hoosiers change the gearing adversly? I already get into 3rd gear
pretty often. Also are there any annoying "habits" of any of these tires
like quick breakaway or limited feedback?
Thanks,
John Moore
