There will be gathering of the autocross faithful at an unofficial
pre-event party on Saturday night, June 10th, at the Whiteland Raceway
in Whiteland Indiana: "Home of the fastest rental karts in the state!"
(http://www.whitelandraceway.com) While the web page shows pictures of
the expansion of the track from the current 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile, the
new section will not be useable until later this summer. Note that
16-year-olds can drive with parental permission signed on-site,
otherwise, you must be 18. These karts are NOT bumper karts, and attain
speeds of about 45 mph. While they don't have a carney to guess your
weight, those who are willing to admit to certain criteria can request
a kart with a larger seat and bigger motor!

If you want to caravan From Walesboro Airport to Whiteland, meet at the
registration table at 8:30pm Saturday night, or feel free to simply
join us at the kart track (directions below). It's about a half-hour
trip.

The Deal: If you show your SCCA membership card and purchase their "3
rides for $25" deal, they will give you a 4th ride FREE. Limit one deal
per person.

What to Wear: If you are wise, you will find out what Gordon Kinney and
Dan Popp are wearing, and WEAR SOMETHING ELSE! Everybody kind of looks
the same in helmets, and the track stewards have been known to evict
the "wrong" perpetrator! <G> Well, it was probably a matter of time
before Dan would get thrown out on his own anyway, right?

Feel free to bring your own helmet as long as it is full-face. Theirs
aren't bad... but haven't necessarily been sanitized for your
protection! They don't seem to have clothing rules, but I've seen the
karts go over, so dress accordingly. It's your skin. (Please don't
start the kart safety thread again!)

Directions: Whiteland Raceway is located north of the Walesboro event
site on I-65. Take Exit 95, then go west (a few miles) to Whiteland.
Turn north (right) at the last street before the railroad tracks, and
go north for about a mile. The track will be on the left.
