Veedol Motor Oil by Tidewater Oil Co.

Received a pristine can of Veedol Motor Oil as a gift from a friend. 
The illustrations on the can appear to be from the 50's or earlier.  It
was made or distributed by the Tidewater Oil Co of San Francisco,
Houston, Tulsa, and New York.  It also has a Flying A logo on the front
of the can.

Can anyone direct me to a site that would give me some info on the
company and or the product?
