I had that exact choice last year, and I actually chose the Harrisburg
ProSolo. Even though Solo2 is expensive if you figure cost per minute of
seat time, it is still a lot cheaper than road racing for a weekend. At the
Harrisburg Pro I actually won some contingency money from Toyota which
pretty much covered my expenses (I slept at home, so I didn't spend much for
the weekend). I figured a Watkins Glen club racing weekend would have cost
me at least $1000 if you count entry fees, tires, brake pads, gas, lodging,
etc. Plus, it would have cost some vacation days to tow there and back.
And a couple of my friends' race cars got eaten by the Glen's armco that
weekend, and that can make for a really expensive race.
Still, I've never driven Watkins Glen and hope to do it someday. I sold my
ITS car and I'm currently broke, so it may be awhile.
