Now you guys are making me cranky! You guys are sitting where ever,
making wild accusations and damaging the character of your fellow
competitors without having any first hand knowledge, at least none that
you have cited. Unless you were present during the discussions between
all the members on _______ rules change, (surprise guys...one single
member does not control the rules), you do not know. I don't know
either of course, for all I know *you may be right*, but I do not
release wildly speculative judgments on individuals based on
circumstance and conjecture. Tell me about your conversations you had
personally with the board members in question on the issue. What was
their explanation? I assume of course that you had enough sense to
personally approach or call the individuals you are questioning, right?
My point is that this club maintains it's own nasty reputation as a
bunch of whining disfunctional baby's, no one else gave it to us.
Public and unfounded attacks on your own organization contribute to this
perception. I don't like all of the rules changes and some other things
either, (yes I have been affected - reference the major loss of DC
contingency money recently) but I make an effort to resist uselessly
spewing about it in a public forum. Many AX'ers on this list are not
SCCA members. They don't need to be subjected to this. Do you think
that they are interesting in becoming a new member now?
Personally, I prefer having a board made of of active competitors, even
if it occasionally opens the them up to questionable calls and apparent
conflict of interest every now and then. Do you want a bunch of
non-autocrossers in there making these decisions? Maybe you just want
it to be you? ;) Maybe the members with a personal stake need to
voluntarily abstain from voting, I don't know. A good comprimise is
often one that make no one happy, and everyone can't get what they want,
but I do think that they do what is best for the entire sport, not
individuals. Sorry I blew up.
