I think the ultimate goal is to end up with a
tire/wheel package width, say no more than 10" wide,
using any combination of rim and tire construction to
achieve it.
This would allow for a gradual transition away from
cantilevers, although I am not sure what is available
in non-cantilever construction for small, but heavy
(compared to formula car specs) cars. Time what will
be avilable on the market.
