In an effort to move into a deeper class, I am selling my DP car to buy
a CM car.
The car is a 1982 EFI Bertone X1/9. It is a 3 time SowDiv winner, but
not fully prepared to Nationals level. The engine is bored to the limit
of the rules and running about 11.5:1 compression, racing valve springs,
and a hot cam with stock (no weight penalty) FI.
The drivetrain is stock - brand new clutch and throwout bearing, 5-speed
transmission, recently freshened when I broke an internal linkage, plus
I polished the (new) internal linkages for smoother shifts.
The suspension is lowered with very stiff springs, KYB struts rear, Boge
front. Very tiny front sway bar. It is a very neutral car, which if
driven BADLY will alternately push slightly or spin (not so
slightly)....
The car comes with four 13x6.5 widened stock (heavy) wheels and six 13x6
Diamond Racing custom (11lb.) wheels. It also comes with a complete
extra drivetrain (engine and tranny) including the EFI setup.
It has a completely stripped interior with a Kirkey racing seat. All
side and back glass are gone, but windshield and top are still intact
for use in the rain. Top is of course removable.
This is a quick, easy to drive car. Everyone who has ever driven it has
loved it. It makes anyone look good. If you have never driven an X1/9,
you should - they give a whole new meaning to "turn in". And then of
course there is the sound of an Italian motor at 7000+ RPM through an
open exhaust.....
The car is also VERY reliable. I have won 3 Divisional, 3 state and at
least 3 Regional Championships in it, with a zillion fun runs at every
regional event in the first two seasons until everyone in the region had
driven it. During that time I went through about 7 sets of tires, one
head gasket, and one transmission linkage. The car continues to run
fresh and strong. I have replaced lots of parts that didn't need it due
to boredom ;-).
Many people on this list have seen this car in action. Some have driven
it. There may even be some BP and CP drivers out there who will admit
LOSING to it!
In any case you can see it at: www.e-empire.com/narby/sports.html at
the bottom of the page.
I am asking $2800/OBO. I am located in central Louisiana and will
deliver within a reasonable (1 or 2 state) radius.
Thanks
Doug
