This is why I started with a $2000 '88 Firebird, instead of a 4th Gen car for 
ESP. The difference in initial investment alone will get me a long way toward 
CP!  I won't be ripping the FI off in favor of a carb any time soon, 
either...  When I do the motor, it won't be cheap, as lots of things are free 
in CP that are limited in ESP.  OTOH, small block Chevy stuff is about as 
reasonable as anything...

I ran into an ESP competitor (who shall remain nameless) who seemed kinda 
pissed off about being called "CP Light."  They are different approaches, and 
I guess I'd be a little miffed at having my efforts denigrated thusly.  
Obviously, I will disagree that it should be the other way around, too.

The 2 choices for 16" X 12" CP wheels seem to cost $900 and $1600/set 
respectively.  Tires are about $1000/set.
