That depends on your definition of "show up".

Your earlier post indicates that you think 50 feet is acceptable.  From the
sizes listed in the rules, they are designed to be read at several hundred.

Do you remember the single large letter on the eye charts that are much
smaller than the rules require for numbers?  It is designed to be read at
200 feet.

Your car may be dark enough that white will show up better than black, but I
haven't seen any color described as silver that would fall into that
category.
