Amen, Rocky! I couldn't agree with you more. I've been in situations
where I was the only car in the class and wished that I'd had some
competition. I've also been in situations, like last year's
Nationals, where I had too much competition and wished that some of it
had stayed home!!! 8<{)
I honestly believe that if I'd had more competition over the years, I
might be a better driver today. But that doesn't detract from the
fact that I've made just about every Red River Region event for the
past 15 years, except when I had to work. I've also made the entire
TLAC (Trans-Louisiana Autocross Challenge) series every year, every
Divisional I could, and every National Tour that was within reasonable
driving distance. And I've poured tons of money into the Mini hoping
to make it just a little bit faster and a little bit more reliable
with each dollar spent. I've also contributed countless hours of my
time (and dollars that I really should have spent on something else)
to being a Regional Executive, Divisional Solo II Safety Steward, and
Solo II instructor. I hardly think that I should be denied a trophy
just because I was the only DP driver to show up for an event.
