OK, yesterday the freshly updated and spelchequed STU Proposal (availible at
autocross.dsm.org/stu.html) was sent to The Powers That Be in Denver.
Now it's time for Phase 2 of this project - the mailing campaign.
Please read the proposed rule changes and clarifications. If you agree with what
we are trying to do here, please send a letter to the SEB (Solo@scca.org) and to
Howard Duncan (DuncanSCCA@aol.com) expressing your support.
I got a fair amount of mail during the discussion and editing phase of the
project from lurkers stating "I like what you're doing - keep it up". As much as
I appreciated those letters (and I did) the people who _really_ need to gauge
how much this idea is supported are the fine folks at the SEB, and Howard The
Rules Guy. Every message helps!
Especially potent are letters from people who plan on actually competing in STU
next season, should the proposal be accepted, and even better are letters from
people who currently do not belong to the SCCA, but who would join the SCCA
specifically to compete in STU - so please spread this post around to other
mailing lists, message boards, etc. where potential STU competitors are likely
to see it and respond.
I would also ask that copies of the proposal be placed in the hands or the
Regional Solo Directors, for possible adoption as Regional class rules next
year.
I have covered the Talon list, and Detroit Region, and if I see Debbie Fessler
in Toledo this weekend, I'll talk to her too. All other lists and regions are up
for grabs! :)
A huge thanks to everybody who has contributed to this point.

A Note About The Credits
At the end of the proposal is a list of everybody (as best I could determine)
who contributed to the discussion and debate about this proposal. I apologise
profusely if I've omitted anybody - let me know I've missed you, and I'll get
you on there ASAP!
The criteria for getting on that list were pretty simple - you had to have
either e-mailed me or posted to the list an on-topic observation or suggestion
about the STU proposal. Negative comments counted too, because changes to the
proposal were made (or not made) based on them, as well as the positive
comments. I really did listen to everybody. I may not have _adopted_ every
suggestion ever made, or have agreed with every opinion ever voiced, but I _did_
listen and consider every one.
So I think everyone who posted on topic deserves credit.
Should anyone _object_ to being included in the credits, let me know, and I will
remove you.
Thanks again,
DG
