Koni shocks and shade trees....

Has anybody delved into the mysteries of Koni shocks in there home shop?
Are there any sources of information for rebuilding them and playing with
different fluid weights?  This is not so much because I'm cheap (although I
am), but because I'm a cheap-skate engineer. ;}
