I agree with the other guy? Why not? Turbo's make a lot more power than
head work. What about the guys who have a 4cyl NA and want to be
competitive as possible. They need the ported head, high lift cam(s), etc.
Also the Type-R could not compete in this class either since the head is
custom ported at the factory (it is not a manufactured item).

Why? If you have the proper safety equipment at the strip they let you run
it there. Plus it's not any more dangerous than some guy in a Honda running
10:1 compression and 12 psi of boost. The other thing to consider is power
is not that key in an auto-x. A 600 HP Honda on street tires will not do as
well as a stock (motor) CRX with a well tuned suspension and race tires.

A lighter hood would help with weight but I really don't think any of the
other stuff would help at auto-x speeds. Good to make the rules clear
though I guess.

You must have shaved door handles. :) Actually I don't think I agree with
this rule for the same reason they don't allow them at the strip. Not very
likely but what if you blacked out, accelerator got stuck, had a heart
attack, etc. and crashed into something knocking you unconscience and your
car caught on fire? Having handles would make it much easier and safer to
get you out of the car. I say no shaved handles unless there is a temporary
handle or release for the doors from outside.

You could just say, car must remain street legal since the point you're
trying to make (I think) here is that it's more of a daily driver rather
than a race car. Although again I don't think any of these mods gain any
sort of major advantage as long as you follow the minimum weight guidelines.

I agree, I would want to compete in this class as well. But these are just
some of my suggestions to allow as many people into this class as possible
so there is actually some competition and so the class will stick around for
awhile. Winning is fun, but winning because there was no competition is not.
