I just got off the phone after a rather frustrating conversation with the
desk clerk (and her manager) at the Best Western Meadow Acres. We have
stayed at this place every year since the nationals have been in Topeka, but
each year I have had to argue with the clerk to get the room we had
reserved. This year they told me that they could not guarantee that we
could get a non-smoking room or a room with a refrigerator, and I am a bit
tired of the uncertainty. Twice before we have ended up in smoking rooms
which were among the smelliest I've ever been in, but they have always been
willing to guarantee the refrigerators. It seems like the priority goes to
whoever shows up at the desk first rather than to whoever makes the
reservation first. I reserved a room for us, but I'd readily go elsewhere.
Do any of you have recommendations of other places in Topeka that have
refrigerators in the rooms and are reasonably priced?
