I'm not sure if this 'special edition' falls under the requirement of at
least 1000 units produced in a model year.
I've noticed an increasing trend of manufacturers and dealers tailoring
popular compact sports cars to appeal more to the younger crowd, (or the
rice racers, if you want) adding on things that kids would go out and buy
anyway---why not keep their money at the dealership, charge them more!!
Examples: Eclipse GS Special edition
16" OZ wheels
Turbo high spoiler
Saturn (spotted @ Saturn of HBG)
yellow racing stripe
3 spoke alloys
body kit with big spoiler
custom stitched interior
(nothing known about actual performance parts)
Ford ZX2 (also in HBG)
yellow stripe, again
body kit
special wheels
(nothing known about actual performance parts)
In my opinion, if Ford really is offering a car with all the goodies you
listed, it's a steal---get one if you like it!! To fill that laundry list
of mods (and install them) would cost waaay more than the $1495 option
package!!
