------------- The Legend -------------

Come with me now to a land far, far away, where autocross tires are all nearly
equal, and all will last a season or more. Anyone can afford a set, and once
bought, will provide the owners with a long competitive experience. The main
differences between first place and the others is driving skill, and even a
little luck now and then.

Each of the manufacturers offers a similar set, the only difference being
personal opinion about which is better.........well, some things will never
change!

But there once was a time, back in the "Dark Ages", when some tread wear
indicators were actually stated as "ZERO", and meant it! Can you imagine?
Tires would last only for 80, 60, even only 40 runs, and were defended with
"Hey, it's just the cost of competition". One wit even bragged about how we
could not take away his right to buy these tires, and it was tough toenails if
some could not afford to keep up :-)

Luckily, shortly thereafter, the drinking water was found to be tainted, and
the illegal mind-altering drug removed from the reservoirs, and sanity
returned to the land. Those manufacturers with 40-run-tires to this day still
have large stocks on hand since no sane person would buy them.

So - is this really a legend or fairy tale? Is there really something in the
water making us believe that 40 runs on a set of tires is "just the way things
are?" Or is this just a dream, that shortly we will all wake up from, and
return to the days when a tire was a tire, and not an art gum eraser.

Who knows............***mysterious voice***.........THE SHADOW KNOWS!!!!!!!

The End.
