Right Wes!
I was hoping to see some info from his Home region/division from a
fellow DSP driver or friend...as to what happened....
Steve Randall was a very talented Wabbit driver and had MANY times been the
top placing VW driver in DSP at Nationals....I remember him because he
offered me use of his tire pyrometer and suggested slightly different tire
pressures to optimize my front adhesion in '95 at Topeka (with my
inexperience on a Concrete Surface..)..AND had remembered me from '92 at
Salina when most of the class didn't....I would have liked to have met him
again...He WAS one of the BEST of the sport!

I don't have this issue of SportsCar but someone on another list
mentioned...
"I just read in SportsCar Magazine that fellow VW autocrosser
Steve Randall (DSP Rabbit) passed away - at only 39 years old !
I've never met the man but had hoped to run against him someday.
He was regarded as one of the faster VW DSP pilots in the country
and was well liked and respected not only in his region but in
surrounding regions as well. It's a shame, and he didn't even
make it to Old Fartz status. Does anyone know the cause ?"
I had the same thoughts as that poster. Anyone knew Steve that can
elaborate about him? TIA
Wes

I was sad to read today after receiving "Sports Car" of the passing of Steve
Randall recent RE of Rio Grande region....He was one of the best of the DSP
bunnies for most of the last decade I have been around solo....met him twice
at Nationals....and I gridded next to him at Topeka in '95.......He was a
great Rep for the Solo World...
The other most memorable VW was Ron Bauer of 'Team Butt Heat' and 'Sweat
Pea'....I may have missed word on Team.net but I recently went digest and I
miss a lot....
