Full cages add significat weight, a substanial penalty, and are rarely
considered. Anywyay, it's a SAFETY mod. Hurts more then it helps. Strut
braces are forbidden because it WILL drive up the costs because everyone
will have to buy them. No safety factor.

"Not when (expensive if they're only good for the track) track-only racing
tires are allowed, but street tires are not competitive."
Have to agree somewhat, but there are now classes for cars with real
street tires.

"Not when a late-model $30,000 car competes in the same classes as a
well-used $3,000 car."
You think this is happening often? In SP, P, and Mod classes, you can
spend as much or as little as you like. In Stock, should new cars be
outlawed? Even a new Miata can get as much as $24,000 or more! There are
classes where older cars are competitive, if not the overdog.

"Not when there are serious discussions about whether or not brake bleeders
are allowed."
Not stock. Anyway, do you really think anyone cares short of a National
Tour level event? if you want them, get 'em.

"Not when a protest could require a competitor to dismantle his/her engine
to
prove the block deck has not been reduced by more than the thickness of a
piece of paper."
Not plesant, but there has to be some sort of rule against gaining the
competitive advantage. THre should be a control here though. In all the
circle track racing I do, there is a rule that if you lodge a protest that
involves disassembly, YOU have to put up the money for a tear-down. If you
are right and the other guy is cheating, you get your $$$ back and he gets a
basket of parts. If you're wrong, you lose the cash! Sounds good to me.

"Not when a competitor could be d/q'd for using non-standard underhood
vacuum
or other hoses, or having the heater core bypassed, or -- give me a break."
Gotta have a stock car! Either use the standard hoses or change them and
hope for the best.

Don't get me wrong, I understand your postition and know your ideals, but
the reality is that there have to be rules, and they just aren't going to
satisfy everybody.

I promise, I'm done!
