Houston Region autoxes every month. We've already had two
events this year at our cool new event site. The Texas A&M SCC had
one event this year (another this weekend) and the Austin Spokes
group has had at least one event if not two this year. The local
Porsche club had an event last weekend. They will do a high-speed
drivers education (wink wink) event at Texas World Speedway this
weekend. Texas Region is coming out of their two month hibernation
(grin) this weekend.
Autox in the south is great. The summers are hot but I can do
more events in the spring than some folks do all YEAR. I once did 13
events between January and May. Doesn't Detroit Region start in May
or late April? No slam intended. They can't help the weather.
It's currently 69 degrees in Friendswood (south of Houston). My
parents are from Milwaukee. They said fooey on snow and have lived
in CA, LA, and TX since I was an infant. Wise folks! :-) You can
get a sunburn at January and December events here in Texas.
I feel rusty if I don't autox for 5-6 weeks. I feel sorry for
snow-bound folks.
