Bill,
If you have the GT (i.e. wood) dash, I think the cubby box mounts to the back
of the hole in the dash for it with a series of phillips screws, and it's
infinitely
easier to do that with the dash out of the car. Try to install as many of the
switches and instruments as you can on the dash before it goes back on the car.
And to protect the facing surface of the dash, use a thick blanket between the
hard bench surface and the dash, and intall the gauges first, and then flip
the dash up on its edge (still with a blanket underneath it) and install the
toggle, washer, and ignition switches.
