Hi Chuck,
Your problem is that Excel didn't come with a grounding strap from new. 
Just drill a hole in the bottom corner of your spreadsheet and run a 12 
gauge wire across to Word (drill a hole in Normal.dot for this) and 
then to Powerpoint (make sure to connect it to the master slide) and 
all should be well.
