Guys,
BTW Bill, your mail isn't being accepted by the Tiger List - guess you
aren't registered there. Wanna join the party? You don't actually have to
own a Tiger you know, all you have to have is an interest and it helps to be
a little nuts and have a thick skin. Anyway, I'm concerned as you might be
also that Paul's other lug bolts are compromised as well. I'd want to be
sure I knew the reason for the failure and that it didn't apply to the other
three bolts - or other fifteen from that matter. The Tiger shop manual says
the proper 'road wheel nut' torque is 48 lb-ft. I find recommended torque
for 1/2" lug nuts all the way from about 80-150 lb-ft, depending on whether
it's aluminum or steel wheels, etc. Everyone seems to believe it's important
to get all the nuts torqued the same to avoid warping the brake rotors. Will
someone explain to me how unevenly tightened lug nuts can warp the rotor?
