Tom and All:

I called and let him know that if he found no other takers and had to 
sell the car, I'd write him a check for $500.  He was a little 
flabbergasted at first, but appreciated my honesty.  He said that he 
had a couple of people coming by today to look at it.  I told him good 
luck...
