Once you get things aligned right, get out your drill.  Before
disassembling the latch and core cover plate for painting, I drilled a
small hole in each side of the latch assembly, right through the latch
and cover plate.  When reassembling, I used the same drill bit to
precisely reposition the latch.  No Problems.
